So I’ve seriously considering trading in my Silverado 1500 for either a 3/4 or 1 ton truck – but SOOOO many questions, and really hoping to get some direction. I want this truck to handle my first TT, but also handle any upgrades down the road. I would like to avoid upgrading the truck every couple years because our rig changes. I want something that can handle a 5th wheel if we ever go that route. TT info: 2400BH (7500lbs~ GVWR) All about the Payload! For the 3/4 trucks – I’m solely looking at gassers. The diesel engines are just too heavy for this platform. Looks like available payload is around 2800-2900lbs with diesel, trying to find a gasser to compare. I’m really set on either the Ford 7.3L or the Chevy 6.6L. 1.) The price difference to a 1 ton isn’t that much different – does it make sense to just move up to that? This truck will tow twice a month from May to September. 2.) How rough of a ride are we talking about here (unloaded)?? How is the difference between the 1/2 and 3/4, and how is the 1 ton compared to the 3/4 3.) 1 ton and diesel. This one has me scratching my head.
