Perhaps second only to an ice cream truck heading toward you with an upbeat jingle, seeing a mail truck is usually comforting. Yet, the U.S. Postal Service always seems wrought with controversy. Postage is going up — again. Mail is lost and stolen or delivered to the wrong address. More recently, the postal service was criticized for not distributing election ballots quickly enough. A mail truck and its carrier still delivering the mail in the snow. And perhaps most importantly, the postal service is facing a concern among […]

RV Review: TAXA TigerMoth Travel Trailer

Taxa Tiger Moth hero By Tony Barthel I see a lot of people asking what they can tow with Jeep Wranglers. The TAXA TigerMoth might just be the answer, depending on the Wrangler. According to Jeep, the Wrangler can tow between 2,000–3,500 lbs. depending on the model, and the TigerMoth fits right into that range. It also has the same tough, go-anywhere appearance as the Jeep. That makes sense since this is designed just for the same backwoods trails as that Jeep. The TAXA TigerMoth is more of […]

2020 has been the Year of the RV for sure! With many dealerships reporting low inventory, shortages and just plain out of stock, we thought it would be fun to look back at some of the most popular sellers and searches of 2020 . Airstream . When Thor Industries bought Airstream a few years ago, Surely they envisioned a big boost in sales from this popular brand. 2020 was a good year for Thor, as they recorded net sales of $1.68 billion , while also indicating that the […]

Hi All, Tired of being cooped up with two kids (5 and 2yr old), we decided to road trip it to dear sister-in-laws place. The kids can see the cousins and we can have some family time. Driving from San Jose to Atlanta tomorrow! We did a 2-day dry run with RV to get familiar a couple of weeks ago. It’s a 32’ Class-C. Taking I5 -> I10 -> I20 We got some state parks booked along the way. Will take it slow: leave Sat and get there […]

PDI and doc fees on a travel trailer purchase?

By |2020-12-14T15:17:08-06:00December 14th, 2020|Tech Tips|

The place I am looking into purchasing an RV from is 11 hour drive. And they want to charge $595 for a PDI fee and $389 for doc fee. This seems extremely excessive to me as I work for a car dealer and well.. a PDI will cost $195 (for an hour’s work) and I’m not even sure we charge for that. And its max $55 for doc fees in my state. Is this typical for travel trailers? I also have another place 8 hours away that is […]

5th wheel hitch advice

By |2020-12-14T15:17:06-06:00December 14th, 2020|Tech Tips|

I had the B&W companion for a few years, it’s a really well made hitch. I had the slider companion hitch which is larger than the regular one. The problem I found was the weight of the hitch makes it really difficult to remove, and also takes away some of your payload. I recently sold that hitch and bought the Anderson ultimate 5th wheel hitch. It’s really well made with lots of great reviews, and it’s super lightweight. You can easily install and remove anytime by yourself, and […]

2019 Ford Explorer XLT to tow a pop up

By |2020-12-14T15:17:04-06:00December 14th, 2020|Tech Tips|

www.reddit.com

Just wondering if anyone has any experience pulling a pop up trailer with the Explorer XLT 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost. With the Class II towing package, it’s listed that I can tow up to 3000lbs and my tent trailer loaded up usually weights in under 2700. With that said, I’m wondering how much, highways, hills, wind, etc are going to suck and how much my Explorer will hate me after a long weekend into the bush?

cabin dome lights on a 2003 ford e-450 super duty?

we bought a used 2004 coachmen freelander 30′ class C with a ford e-450 6.8l v10 a couple of weeks ago. one thing i’m unable to understand is the courtesy lights. the only light we have in the cabin is a little square, toggle-switched thing with a single bulb. has to be manually turned on, unlike the vast majority of cars where the doors have a switch in them that turns on map or reading or courtesly lighting. question: does this rig even come with door-switchable lighting? if […]
