Robert Bruce Hemphill 89 of Turlock passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 11, 2021. Surrounded by family members at his side. Bob is survived by his loving wife Arlete of 67 years. Son Bob Hemphill Jr. of Chinese Camp, California. Daughter Cathy Hemphill of Joshua Tree, California. Son Bill Hemphill of Turlock, California. Who has been taking care of his parents for many years. Bob had three grandchildren. Dustin Hemphill, Benjamin Hemphill, and Margaret Smith, all from Tuolumne County. Grandchildren, Parker, Miles, Max, Hunter and baby Arlete. Bob was born in Lebanon, Missouri to Arch and Elva Hemphill. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Sam from Turlock his sisters Edith and Irene of Missouri, sister Catherine lives in Springfield Missouri. He has many nephews, nieces, and friends. Bob joined the United States Air Force out of high school in 1949. He was fortunate to be stationed at Lajes Air Force base, Azores, Portugal. One of the chain of islands in the Atlantic ocean. This was where Bob met the love of his life Arlete. They were married in August 1953. Bob and Arlete raised three kids while being stationed at military bases all over the world.
