Hey guys! This is my first post here, and I had a quick question! I am a new physician currently in training in a Family Medicine Residency, and will be graduating in the next 1–2 years. I have this crazy dream of working as Locum Tenens for a couple of years until I find a cool spot to settle down a build up my own clinic (the best analogy to explain what a locum physician does: think of the role a substitute teacher plays in terms of holding down the fort while the main teacher is out for one reason or another. That – but for doctors). I’m planning on being in a particular area for 2-5 months at a time, before continuing to the next place. I guess I’m just trying to figure out how to get started, what resources I should look into, if anyone had any remotely similar goals or experiences, and any other tips or advice you could give to a newbie looking into this lifestyle.
