Donald and Grace Murphy had to alter celebration plans for their 70th anniversary because of COVID-19 but still marked the date. Donald Murphy and the former Grace Kelley were married Dec. 2, 1950, at the Leavittsburg Community Church, with the Rev. John Burrows officiating. The couple’s wedding ceremony was delayed by one week because of the big snowstorm of Nov. 25, 1950. The couple has three sons, Douglas (Beth), Bruce and George (Tyra). They also have seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Donald served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. A tool-and-die maker, he retired from Delphi Packard. He also was a fire chief for Bazetta and a trustee for Bazetta Township. Grace was a member of the Lakeview school board and an emergency medical technician with the Bazetta Fire Department. The couple were volunteers for Hospice of the Valley for several years. They both enjoyed traveling in their RV for 25 years, and have been active in Bazetta Christian Church for more than 65 years.
