GRAVETTE — Tawny Donell appeared before the Gravette city council at its regular meeting Thursday, Dec. 10, to report she had a building she wanted to tear down and to request a variance to live in an RV behind the building while the work is being done. Mayor Kurt Maddox told her the matter was not on the agenda and she would have to fill out the necessary paperwork, check with building inspector David Keck and wait for a vote in January. Council members heard the first reading of the proposed new unified development code. They agreed to postpone the second and third readings until the January meeting to allow time for citizen input regarding the code. Three resolutions were passed at the meeting. The first resolution approved change orders for city contracts under $50,000 without requiring council approval. Change orders exceeding the $50,000 limit must be approved by the council. The second approved a budget adjustment to allow the payment for covid-19 essential pay of $200 per month for full-time city employees and $75 for part-time workers for the months of March through December 2020.
