For the Star-Banner Thanks to the generosity of Community With A Heart donors, Jennifer Hemphill is back on the road to rebuilding her life after years of dealing with injuries from a traffic crash. Hemphill, 55, was operating a general contracting and home remodeling company three years ago in the Pinellas Park area when her life took an unexpected turn. Hemphill was entering a crosswalk on her bicycle when she was struck by a driver who ran a stop sign. She suffered multiple injuries and damage to her neck and back, which has required five surgeries to date. Hemphill was unable to work following the crash and she applied for disability payments with a medical certification. But the application was delayed for more than two years. “This situation wasn’t planned and I used the little savings I had,” Hemphill said.
