Hundreds of men and women in Greene and Columbia counties are painted in a corner of high unemployment. Fortunately, a popular business called Gander RV & Outdoors is looking to breathe life into the former Boat-N-RV Warehouse near the line between Coxsackie and New Baltimore. Gander RV & Outdoors, formerly known as Gander Mountain, was purchased in bankruptcy court by Marcus Lemonis, star of CNBC’s “The Profit,” in 2017, according to a statement from Camping World Holdings, which owns the company. Lemonis should know a thing or two about growing jobs. New Baltimore Town Supervisor Jeff Ruso welcomed the business. “If they bring in more business and more employment opportunities, I think that’s the best benefit to the town of New Baltimore,” Ruso said. The store will serve locals and attract visitors, he said. “It will be available for our community instead of driving to Albany and I do think there’s some potential for Thruway business as well, which would be good for our community,” Ruso said. Neighboring Coxsackie should also benefit, Town Supervisor Richard Hanse said as he weighed in on the news. “I think it’s great,” he said. “It will bring people into Coxsackie.
